Minor Flood Warning For The Orara River

MINOR FLOODING CONTINUING AT COUTTS CROSSING
Recent moderate rainfall across the Orara River catchment has caused river and creek level rises along the Orara River and its tributaries. Minor flooding is occurring at Coutts Crossing.
Further rain is forecast across the Orara River catchment from the middle of the week, which may cause renewed river level rises and flooding. The situation is being closely monitored and flood warnings will be issued as required.

Orara River:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Orara River at Coutts Crossing.

The Orara River at Coutts Crossing is currently at 5.71 metres and falling, above the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Orara River at Coutts Crossing may fall below the minor flood level Tuesday afternoon.

MINOR FLOODING NO LONGER OCCURRING AT GRAFTON
Further rainfall is forecast in the Clarence River catchment from mid-week which may cause renewed river rises and flooding in the second half of the week. This situation is being closely monitored and warnings will be issued as required.

No further flooding is expected in the Clarence River.

The Clarence River at Grafton (Prince St) is currently at 1.72 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (2.10 m).

Coastal Hazard Warning
for DAMAGING SURF

for parts of Mid North Coast, Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra and South Coast Forecast Districts.

Damaging Surf continuing along parts of the New South Wales coast.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system in the southern Tasman Sea is generating large and powerful waves for parts of the NSW coast.
DAMAGING SURF for the following areas:
Mid North Coast, Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra and South Coast
VERY HEAVY SURF which may lead to localised damage and coastal erosion is possible along the New South Wales coast south of Seal Rocks, extending to coastlines between Seal Rocks and Smoky Cape. These conditions will persist today with wave heights forecast to increase during the morning before slowly easing late this evening or early Wednesday morning.
Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas, particularly south-facing coastlines.
A Hazardous Surf Warning is also current for parts of the New South Wales Coast.

Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming in the following areas.

NSW Police Force, Marine Area Command advise that:
People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas.
Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf.
Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage.
Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket.
Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base, via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management plan.

Initial Flood Watch For Parts Of The Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, And North West Slopes In New South Wales

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE IN PARTS OF THE NORTHERN RIVERS, MID NORTH COAST, AND NORTH WEST SLOPES FROM WEDNESDAY

A trough may extend into the northeast of New South Wales from the middle of the week, bringing moderate to heavy rain to the area. Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across the Flood Watch area from Wednesday, with locally heavy rainfall possible. Localised river level rises, and flash flooding are likely within the areas of heaviest rainfall.
Minor flooding is possible for the Tweed, Brunswick, Wilsons, Richmond, Bellinger, Nambucca and Upper Macintyre Rivers. Renewed minor flooding is also possible in the catchments where flood warnings are already current such including the Orara and Clarence Rivers and the upper reaches of the Gwydir River.
A Flood Watch is also current for Queensland including the Border Rivers.
Catchments in the Flood Watch area are wet and tides are forecast to be close to or slightly higher than the highest astronomical tide of the year along the coast of the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast.
This weather system has the potential to cause minor flooding in the Flood Watch area from Wednesday. Flood Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.

MINOR FLOODING NO LONGER OCCURRING OR EXPECTED AT WINGHAM AND CROKI WHARF
The river level at Wingham peaked on Sunday with minor flooding and fell below the minor flood level Sunday evening. At Croki Wharf, the river level peaked near the minor flood level with high tides on Sunday. No further flooding is expected. .
Further rain is forecast across parts of the Manning River catchments from the middle of the week, which may cause renewed river level rises and flooding along the Manning River and its tributaries. The situation is being closely monitored and flood warnings will be updated as required.

Manning River:
Minor flooding is no longer occurring or expected along the Manning River.
The Manning River at Wingham is currently at 3.36 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (4.90 m).
The Manning River at Wingham is expected to remain below the minor flood level .

The Manning River at Croki Wharf is currently at 1.25 metres and rising.
The Manning River at Croki Wharf is expected to remain below the minor flood level (1.50 m).

Moderate Flood Warning For The Namoi River

MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT WEE WAA AND POSSIBLE AT BUGILBONE
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT GUNNEDAH, BOGGABRI, NARRABRI, AND GOANGRA
Along the Namoi River at Gunnedah, inflows from the Mooki River combined with inflows from the Peel River may cause minor flooding Monday evening.
Further downstream along the Namoi River, Boggabri peaked at the minor flood level Sunday morning. Renewed rises are occurring at Narrabri where minor flooding is possible Monday evening. Moderate flooding is occurring at Wee Wee. Minor flooding is expected at Bugilbone from Monday afternoon and minor flooding is possible at Goangra later this week.
In the next few days, multiple flood peaks are expected to move along the Namoi River, with prolonged flooding possible at some locations.

Namoi River:
Moderate flooding is occurring at Wee Waa and possible at Bugilbone. Minor flooding is possible at Gunnedah, Boggabri, Narrabri and Goangra.
The Namoi River at Gunnedah is currently at 5.45 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (7.30 m).
The Namoi River at Gunnedah may reach the minor flood level (7.30 m) Monday evening. Further rises are possible.

The Namoi River at Boggabri peaked at 7.04 metres around 11:30 am Sunday with minor flooding and is currently at 6.74 metres and falling, below the minor flood level.
Subject to the arrival of the floodwaters from Gunnedah, renewed river level rises to the minor flood level (7.00 m) are possible from midweek.

The Narrabri Creek at Narrabri is currently at 4.14 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (4.90 m).
The Narrabri Creek at Narrabri may reach the minor flood level (4.90 m) Monday evening.

The Namoi River at Wee Waa (Glencoe) is currently at 6.36 metres and steady, above the minor flood level (5.30 m).
The Namoi River at Wee Waa (Glencoe) may remain around the moderate flood level (6.40 m) until Tuesday.

The Namoi River at Bugilbone is currently at 4.60 metres and rising.
The Namoi River at Bugilbone is likely to reach the minor flood level (4.90 m) Monday afternoon. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (5.50 m) during Wednesday.

The Namoi River at Goangra is currently at 2.11 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (5.50 m).
The Namoi River at Goangra may reach the minor flood level (5.50 m) later this week. Further rises are possible.

The river level along the Upper Hunter River at Denman peaked slightly above the minor flood level (6.50 m) around midday Sunday and fell below the minor flood level Sunday afternoon. The river level at Denman is expected to remain below the minor flood level.
Further rain is forecast across parts of the Hunter River catchments from the middle of the week, which may cause renewed river level rises and flooding along the Hunter River and its tributaries. The situation is being closely monitored and the flood warning will be updated as required.

Upper Hunter:
Minor flooding is no longer occurring along the Upper Hunter at Denman.
The Hunter River at Denman peaked near 6.80 metres around 12:45 pm Sunday with minor flooding and is currently at 6.31 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (6.50 m).
The Hunter River at Denman is expected to remain below the minor flood level.
