Moderate to heavy rainfall has been recorded in the upper Brisbane and Stanley catchments in the last few days, causing river and creek level rises across the catchments.
Minor flooding is occurring at Gregor Creek. Flooding is no longer occurring along the Stanley River at Woodford.
No significant rainfall is forecast across the Upper Brisbane catchment in the next few days.

Stanley River to Somerset Dam:
Flooding is no longer occurring along the Stanley River at Woodford. Elevated river levels are occurring along the Stanley River to Somerset Dam.
The Stanley River at Woodford is currently at 3.98 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Stanley River at Woodford is expected to remain below the minor flood level (5.00 m).

Brisbane River to Wivenhoe Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Upper Brisbane River.
The Brisbane River at Gregor Creek peaked at 4.24 metres around 09:50 am Thursday 19 December and is currently at 3.94 metres and falling, above the minor flood level (3.50 m).

Moderate rainfall has been observed across the Bremer River and Warrill Creek catchment in the last few days, causing river and creek level rises across the lower parts of the catchments.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Warrill Creek at Amberley. Flooding is no longer occurring along the Bremer River at Rosewood, Five Mile Bridge and Walloon.
No significant rainfall is forecast across the Bremer River and Warrill Creek catchment in the next few days.

Warrill Creek:
Minor flooding is occurring at Amberley and Loamside.
The Warrill Creek at Amberley is currently at 4.34 metres and rising, above the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Warrill Creek at Amberley is likely to peak near 4.50 metres Thursday afternoon. The river level is likely to remain above the minor flood level (4.00 m) overnight Thursday into Friday.

Bremer River:
Flooding is no longer occurring at Rosewood, Five Mile Bridge and Walloon. Minor flooding is occurring along the Bremer River at Three Mile Bridge.

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT DUNOLLIE AND POSSIBLE AT WALLA FROM LATE THURSDAY
MINOR FLOODING EXPECTED TO BE OCCURRING AT BRIAN PASTURES
Moderate to heavy rainfall across the Burnett River catchment during last few days has caused river level rises across the Burnett River catchment, with minor flooding occurring along the Boyne River at Dunollie.
No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days.

Stuart and Boyne Rivers:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Stuart and Boyne Rivers.
The Boyne River at Dunollie was at 4.10 metres at 6:30 am Thursday with minor flooding.
The Boyne River at Dunollie is likely to remain above the minor flood level (2.50 m) during Thursday into Friday.

Barker and Barambah Creeks:
River levels are elevated along Barker Creek and Barambah Creek. Major flooding is occurring along Barker Creek at Glenmore. Moderate flooding is easing along Barambah Creek at Silverleaf Weir while minor flooding is occurring along Barambah Creek at Ficks Crossing.
No recent river level observations are available for Barambah Creek at Brian Pastures. The creek level is estimated to be near the minor flood level (6.00 m) and rising.
The Barambah Creek at Brian Pastures may remain around the minor flood level (6.00 m) Thursday evening.

Burnett River downstream of Paradise Dam:
Minor flooding may occur along the Burnett River downstream of Paradise Dam.
The Burnett River at Walla is currently at 5.81 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (6.00 m).
The Burnett River at Walla may reach the minor flood level (6.00 m) late Thursday. The river level may remain around the minor flood level (6.00 m) overnight Thursday into Friday.

BEAUDESERT PEAKED JUST BELOW MAJOR FLOOD LEVEL EARLY THURSDAY MORNING
MINOR FLOODING REMAINS POSSIBLE AT MACLEAN BRIDGE THURSDAY EVENING
Moderate to heavy rainfall during Tuesday and Wednesday has caused minor to major flooding in upper parts of the Logan River catchment. A flood peak just below the major flood level was observed early Thursday morning along the Logan River at Beaudesert, where minor flooding is now easing.
This flood peak is now travelling downstream towards Maclean Bridge, where minor flooding remains possible during Thursday evening.
No further significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days.

Logan River to Yarrahappini:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Logan River at Beaudesert and Yarrahappini.
The Logan River at Beaudesert peaked at 8.17 metres around 02:30 am Thursday 19 December, just below the major flood level (8.30 metres). The river level is currently at 6.22 metres and falling, above the minor flood level (5.50 metres).
The Logan River at Beaudesert is likely to fall below the minor flood level (5.50 m) Thursday afternoon.

Logan River downstream of Yarrahappini:
Minor flooding may occur along the Logan River downstream of Yarrahappini.
The Logan River at Maclean Bridge is currently at 8.94 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (10.00 metres).

The current technical definition of a La Niña is only a small chance to be met, although ocean and atmospheric conditions do resemble a La Niña pattern. Trade winds are still stronger than average along the western equatorial Pacific, and Relative-Nino Index (factors in equatorial ocean temperatures elsewhere around the world, compensating for the background warming signal) is below the threshold. A La Niña typically leads to cooler temperatures northern Australia during summer, while producing higher temperatures for western/southwestern WA, Vic and western Tas. The Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is in a neutral phase. Recent conditions have been like a negative IOD, but it is too late in the year for this climate driver to develop. Once the monsoon establishes over northern Australia, the IOD has no impact on Australia’s weather. The Southern AnnularMode (SAM) is in a brief negative phase, having switched a positive phase in November. Forecasts predict it will become neural in mid-late December and become positive in January and February. A positive SAM decreases the frequency of cold fronts, with more regular high pressure systems and easterly winds. During summer, this increases rainfall over eastern Australia, and reduces rainfall over southeastern SA, western Vic and western Tas. Rainfall outlooks are showing above average rainfall over large parts of the country during summer, with closer to average conditions for the southwest corner of WA, southern SA and Vic, and central parts of Tas.
