Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Albert River

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BURKETOWN AIRSTRIP OVERNIGHT FRIDAY
Moderate to heavy rainfall over the past several days has caused river level rises and flooding along the Gregory and Nicholson Rivers. Minor flooding is possible along the Albert River at Burketown from overnight Friday into Saturday. Further showers and storms are forecast across the catchment over the next few days, which may cause further river level rises.
This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary.

Nicholson and Gregory Rivers:
Minor flooding may occur along the Albert River.
No observations are available for Burketown on the Albert River. However, the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Albert River at Burketown Airstrip may reach the minor flood level (5.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.

Major Flood Warning For The Georgina River And Moderate Flood Warning For Eyre Creek

RENEWED MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT MARION DOWNS FROM FRIDAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND
MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT BEDOURIE AND GLENGYLE
Moderate flooding is easing at Marion Downs, with renewed major flooding likely as upstream floodwaters arrive. A second flood peak is downstream of Bedourie, where moderate flooding is easing. Renewed rises are likely at Bedourie from late next week as upstream flood waters arrive. River levels are rising at Glengyle where a moderate flood peak is likely during Thursday, above the Glengyle Bridge level.
The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.

Georgina River to Marion Downs:
River levels are rising across the Georgina River to Marion Downs with moderate flooding at Roxborough Downs and Glenormiston.
The Georgina River at Marion Downs was at 4.92 metres and falling at 7:30 am Thursday, just below the major flood level (5.00 m).
With renewed rises the Georgina River at Marion Downs may reach the major flood level (5.00 m) from Friday and into the weekend with further rises possible as floodwaters arrive from upstream.

Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs:
Elevated river and creek levels are occurring along the Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs as floodwaters continue to arrive from upstream.
Eyre Creek:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Eyre Creek.
Eyre Creek at Bedourie was at 4.54 metres and steady at 9:00 am Thursday, above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) and above the bridge level (4.40 m).
Moderate flooding is likely to continue easing this week along the Eyre Creek at Bedourie and may fall below the bridge level (4.40m) during Friday. Renewed rises are likely from late next week as upstream floodwaters arrive.

Eyre Creek at Glengyle was around 3.10 metres at 09:00 am Wednesday and rising, above the moderate flood level (3.00 m).
The Eyre Creek at Glengyle is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (3.00 m) over the next few days, with further rises the river level reach above the bridge level (3.30 m) from Thursday afternoon. A moderate flood peak is likely during Thursday.

MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WALKERS BEND FROM FRIDAY
MODERATE FLOODING CONTINUING AT RICHMOND
NO FURTHER FLOODING EXPECTED AT CLONCURRY
Moderate to heavy rainfall in the last week has caused river level rises and flooding along the Flinders River.
Showers and storms remain possible for the remainder of Thursday and into Friday, which may keep river and creek levels elevated with renewed rises possible along the Flinders River and its tributaries.
The situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.

Flinders River to Richmond:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Flinders River to Richmond.
The Flinders River at Richmond was at 7.10 metres at 09:00 am Wednesday and falling, above the moderate flood level (6.00 m). Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the current river level is estimated to be above the moderate flood level (6.00 m) and steady.
The Flinders River at Richmond may remain above the moderate flood level (6.00 m) for the remainder of Thursday and into Friday.

Flinders River downstream of Richmond:
Major flooding may occur along the Flinders River downstream of Richmond.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is currently at 6.88 metres and steady, above the moderate flood level (5.30 m).
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend may reach the major flood level (8.00 m) from Friday. Further rises are expected as upstream flood waters arrive.

Cloncurry River:
No further flooding is expected along the Cloncurry River.
The Cloncurry River at Cloncurry is currently at 1.93 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (3.00 m).
The Cloncurry River at Cloncurry is expected to remain below the minor flood level (3.00 m).

MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT BIRDSVILLE THURSDAY EVENING WITH MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE NEXT WEEK
MODERATE FLOODING CONTINUING AT WINTON
Moderate to heavy rainfall during last week has caused significant river level rises across the Diamantina River catchment.
Major flooding is occurring along the Diamantina River around Diamantina Lakes, Elderslie and Monkira. Further downstream, river levels are rising at Birdsville, with minor flooding likely Thursday evening and further rises to the major flood level possible from early next week.
Moderate flooding is continuing along the Western River at Winton.
The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.

Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
Major flooding is continuing along the Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes. The river level is currently at 6.49 metres and steady, which is 4.39 metres above the level of the causeway on the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road (2.10 m). River levels are rising and major flooding is occurring at Elderslie.
Western River:
Moderate flooding is continuing along the Western River at Winton.
The Western River at Winton was at 2.27 metres and steady around 9:00 am Thursday morning, above the moderate flood level (2.00 m).
The Western River at Winton is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (2.00 m) during the remainder of Thursday and into Friday.

Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Major flooding is continuing along the Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes around Monkira.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville was at 3.35 metres and rising at 9:00 am Thursday morning, below the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Diamantina River at Birdsville is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.00 m) Thursday evening. The river level is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (6.00 m) during Saturday and may reach the major flood level (8.00 m) during Tuesday.
