Minor Flood Warning for the Kiewa River
Issued at 8:58 am EDT on Saturday 15 December 2018
Flood Warning Number: 2
Minor flooding is expected to continue in the lower reaches of the Kiewa River
during Saturday into Sunday.
In the 24 hours to 9am Saturday, rainfall totals of around 10mm were recorded
in the Kiewa River catchment.
Further rainfall is forecast for Saturday with totals of 10mm to 20mm possible.
Kiewa River downstream of Mongans Bridge:
Minor flooding is expected to continue along the Kiewa River downstream of
The Kiewa River at Bandiana is expected to remain around the minor flood level
(2.80 m) during Saturday into Sunday.
Flood Safety Advice:
SES advises that all community members should:
Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater
Never allow children to play in floodwater
Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain
Keep well clear of fallen power lines
Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may
contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases
the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
