Minor Flood Warning For The Tully River
Issued at 04:03 PM EST on Tuesday 16 April 2024
Flood Warning Number: 2

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT EURAMO
Heavy overnight rainfall has resulted in totals of up to 200 mm being recorded across the Tully River catchment in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Tuesday. This has resulted in rapid river level rises.
A minor flood peak is expected at Euramo during Tuesday evening.
Further rainfall is possible overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. The situation is being monitored closely and warnings will be updated as required.

Tully River:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Tully River.
The Tully River at Euramo is currently around the minor flood level (6.00 m) and rising.
The Tully River at Euramo may reach around 6.50 metres Tuesday evening. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.

Flooding in North Queensland catchments during December 2023 damaged high priority river gauges that support the Bureau of Meteorology to provide high accuracy flood forecasts. While river gauges are being repaired, the Bureau will continue to issue flood watches and warnings for these catchments using the best available data.

Major Flood Warning For The Daintree River And Flood Warning For The Mossman River

MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT DAINTREE VILLAGE FROM TUESDAY EVENING
Heavy overnight rainfall has been observed across the Daintree and Mossman River catchments, with rainfall totals of up to 270 mm recorded in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Tuesday, and a further 25 to 55 mm falling since 9:00 am Tuesday. This has resulted in rapid river level rises.
Moderate flooding is occurring at Daintree Village and major flooding is possible during Tuesday evening. River levels are elevated across the Mossman River catchment.
The situation is being monitored closely and warnings will be updated as required.

Daintree River:
Major flooding may occur along the Daintree River.
The Daintree River at Daintree Village is currently at 7.80 metres and rising, above the moderate flood level (6.00 m).
The Daintree River at Daintree Village may peak near the major flood level (9.00 m) from Tuesday evening with forecast rainfall.

Mossman River:
River levels are elevated along the Mossman River.

Final Flood Warning For The Mulgrave And Russell Rivers

FLOODING IS NO LONGER OCCURRING AT PEETS BRIDGE AND GORDONVALE
Heavy rainfall overnight Monday in the Mulgrave and Russell catchments resulted in strong stream level rises and minor flooding on Tuesday morning. River levels are generally easing on Tuesday afternoon.
There remains a chance of further showers for the remainder of this week. The situation will continue to be closely monitored and warnings will recommence as required.

Mulgrave River:
River levels are easing along the Mulgrave River on Tuesday afternoon.
The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is currently at 4.05 metres and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is expected to remain below the minor flood level (5.00 m) during the remainder of Tuesday.

The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale is currently at 10.90 metres and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale is expected to remain below the minor flood level (12.00 m) during the remainder of Tuesday.

Russell River:
Stream levels across the Russell River catchment are peaking below minor or are already easing on Tuesday afternoon.
