Initial Minor Flood Warning for the Western River and Initial Flood Warning for
the Diamantina River

Flood Warning Number: 1
Minor flooding is possible at Winton on the Western River based on forecast
rainfall in the next few days.
Heavy rainfall associated with the movement of Ex-TC Trevor has been recorded
across the Diamantina River catchment in the 24 hours to 9am Tuesday, most
notably 85 mm at Diamantina Lakes. Further heavy rainfall is expected during
Tuesday and into Wednesday across the catchment area.
Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
River level rises have been recorded at Diamantina Lakes, with further rises to
exceed the causeway level (2.1 metres) possible from late Tuesday.
Minor flooding is possible along the Western River in the next few days.
No observations are currently available along the Western River. River level
rises are expected based on forecast rain. The Western River at Winton may
reach the minor flood level (1.50 m) during the next few days.
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
River level rises and flooding are possible in the next few days.
