Severe Weather Warning
for DAMAGING WINDS
For people in parts of Central, East Gippsland, South West, North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.
Issued at 10:39 am Sunday, 26 May 2019.
Very windy conditions developing about the eastern ranges and along parts of the coast late Sunday.
A series of cold fronts will cross Victoria over the coming days.
DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are expected to develop along parts of the coast Sunday evening and early Monday morning.
DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 70 to 80 km/h with peak gusts of around 110km/h are expected to develop over the peaks of the Grampians and over Alpine areas in the east (above 1200 metres) also on Sunday evening and early Monday morning.
Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Portland, Wonthaggi, Frankston, Falls Creek and Mt Buller.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEST Sunday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 217. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
